About Me | Paul Fliege received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Culver-Stockton College and his Master of Music Education degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He began his teaching career in 1998 in the Macon R-1 School District, serving for three years as Associate Band Director with his mentor, Larry Bennett. The Macon High School Concert Band was selected to perform at the 2000 Missouri Music Educators Association Convention. Since 2001, Paul has been Associate Director of Bands for the Jackson R-2 School District. His responsibilities at Jackson include teaching all single and double reed students both privately and in small groups and directing the Symphonic Band, Freshman Band, and Woodwind Choir. He also assists with the marching bands and the Wind Symphony, a group selected to perform at the 2006 Missouri Music Educators Association Convention. All of these ensembles have received superior ratings at State Contest, and his private students have consistently been successful in All-District and All-State Band auditions and in District and State Solo/Ensemble Contest. For the last four years, Paul has held the office of High School Band Vice President for Southeast District #10 of the Missouri Music Educators Association. As a member of the Missouri Bandmasters Association, he has served as a judge for the All-State Band auditions for the last eight years. His other professional affiliations include MENC and the International Clarinet Association. He also stays very active as a clinician, adjudicator, and performer. Paul and his wife, Cecily, live in Jackson with their two daughters, Layla (age 5) and Ella (age 2). |
