About Me | Victoria L. Meraz is currently in her thirty-third year of teaching. This is also her seventh year as Director of Bands after serving twenty-three years as Assistant Director of Bands for the Willard Public Schools. A 1986 graduate of Willard High School, Victoria received her Bachelors of Music Education degree in 1991 and her Masters in Secondary Educational Administration in 2002 from Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University. At the high school level, Victoria currently directs “The Cutting Edge” Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz I, and Jazz III and assists with Jazz II. At the middle school level, Victoria assists with the 7th and 8th grade bands, middle school jazz, and teaches woodwinds. Victoria also teaches beginning woodwinds at the Intermediate School level. During her tenure at Willard Public Schools, Victoria has served as Fine Arts Department Chair, been an Administrative Intern, and has held membership on many committees including the PLC Committee. In addition to her duties as Director of Bands, Victoria currently serves on the Advisory Board for Bands of America. She also has been a guest clinician and adjudicator throughout the state of Missouri. In addition, she has served as a staff member with the Missouri All-Star Band, Missouri Lion’s Band and the Mid-America All-Star Band, all of which have had extensive concert performances throughout the United States and Europe. Victoria’s professional affiliations include Missouri Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, International Association of Jazz Educators, Missouri Bandmasters Association, Women Band Directors Association, Southwest Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals and Phi Beta Mu Honorary Band Fraternity. Her husband Juan is currently an Assistant Vice President at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He is also the former Director of both the Bears and Lady Bears Basketball Bands at MSU. |
